Rewatch Our Online Conference and Multiplier Event
23 Apr 2024
As part of Fashion Revolution Week 2024 and to mark the closing of the TRAMA project, the TRAMA consortium held its online conference and multiplier event "Fashion Transparency and Traceability: Policies and Implementation".
The event was cohosted by Fashion Revolution Greece, who, in collaboration with global partners, celebrates a decade of driving change in the fashion industry through Fashion Revolution Week 2024. This event aligns with Point #8 of the Fashion Revolution manifesto, emphasizing the necessity for a transparent and responsible fashion industry.
Fashion Revolution is a global movement that emerged after the Rana Plaza disaster in 2013. It has since grown to include participants from over 100 countries, advocating for systemic reform of the fashion industry. Fashion Revolution's efforts focus on increased transparency to improve the conditions and rights of all people within the fashion industry and to lessen environmental impacts. Fashion Revolution Week, marking the anniversary of the Rana Plaza collapse, is the highlight of our calendar, mobilizing action worldwide.
Manifesto Highlight - Point 8: "Fashion is transparent and responsible. Fashion embraces clarity and does not hide behind complexity or rely on trade secrets to derive value. Anyone, anywhere can discover how, where, by whom, and under what circumstances their clothes were made."
This conference unpacked the journey of fashion products from raw materials to finished goods, emphasizing the need for transparency and traceability to ensure ethical practices and sustainability. The evening featured a series of expert-led sessions, starting with Francesca Romana Rinaldi, Director Monitor for Circular Fashion SDA Bocconi & UNECE Expert, discussing the UNECE Sustainability Pledge, followed by Catherine Dauriac, Fashion Revolution France Country Coordinator, on the transparency of French natural fibers, and insights from Yuka Martin Mendo, Fashion Revolution Japan Country Coordinator. The event also included a special presentation on the role of the "Transparency Manager in the Fashion Industry" and concluded with a discussion on best practices by Pauline Matterson of Ethos Pathos.
